Pre-Admission Testing
In the weeks leading up to your scheduled procedure, you will be asked to come in to Eminent Medical Center or a satellite facility to complete pre-admission testing. This testing usually takes place about 3 weeks before your procedure.
A member of our facility will contact you before this testing session to discuss what you should plan for and to ask you questions about medications you are currently taking, your medical history, and your current state of wellbeing. This individual will be able to answer any questions and address any concerns you may have about your pre-admission tests.
You will be asked to complete different types of testing depending on what type of procedure you have scheduled. The tests usually take no more than 3 hours total, and although the specific tests you will undergo are selected by your physician, there are several that almost all patients undergo. These include:
• Blood work
• Chest x-ray
• Electrocardiogram
Your pre-admission testing is generally noninvasive and should require little to no preparation on your part. If any of the tests require that you restrict your diet or make any other lifestyle changes, that information will be communicated to you well in advance of your testing. To ensure that there is an adequate sample for a urine test, it is a good idea to consume plenty of fluids before your appointment.
